Bill the Cat for President

Okay, I'm probably showing my age here, but I've gotten a little annoyed with the calls by people questioning who I will be voting for on "Super Tuesday" (when so many states have primaries or caucuses).  I just don't think it's anyone's business but mine.  So, when I got the third call this morning I replied, "Bill the Cat."

"Bill the Cat?"

"Yeah, I know he hasn't officially ran since 1988, but I think he'd be perfect for the job."

"A cat?"

"Yes, a cat.  And with luck he'll be able to get Opus on his ballot as VP again.  A cat and a penguin are just what this country needs."

Oddly enough, the annoying pollster hung up on me then... hmmm, I wonder why?

Am I the only one who remembers this?

MN doesn't have that many delegates either... but I guess when elections are as close as they have been every 3 or so makes the difference.

SO with you about the whole stupid civic duty thing... *sigh* There were a few elections I thought my vote actually meant something and could make a difference. *double sigh*

Looks like you have 4 more electors than us - I wonder what the magic number is for putting resources into a campaign in a particular place? With delegates to the conventions, I can't keep those rules straight for anything. When it takes an hour to explain to smart people how something works? It's too complicated!

seriously- the whole dang this is so terribly confusing. I assume it was planned to be that way though

Oh yes. The founding fathers had almost zero faith in the Common Man. It's better if the elite, in-the-know people obfuscate and run everything, because the will of the unwashed masses might mess things up. (I go back and forth between that and "Well, there are a lot of really dumb people in the world..." Of course, this makes me feel like one of them! Heh.)

hmm, you do have a point about there being a lot of stupid people in the world, but still.. it would be nice if trying to explain things didn't result in *quite* such a headache

Less headache would be great. I would like for our electoral process these days to actually *be* more democratic (as opposed to mind-scramblingly representative) but in order to do that they would definitely have to simplify. I just can't think simplification of some things would be bad! It took me 45 minutes of internet research to find out which ballots I'll be able to choose from on Tuesday.

Same thing here. It's just so frustrating
