I'm not one of the RTD-hating squad, but it's definitely time for a change round. Some new themes and ideas and directions, and Moffat is just the guy to provide them.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-20 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't hate RTD. Not at all. I just think his vision has perhaps run its course

I was all a-squee and bouncy when I heard. TOO AWESOME.

*dances with you* I think the Kermit icon says it all.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah. It's perfect!

I can't find anything about is Moffat's taking over the other shows (TW or SJA) though

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
If he is, it would be the ultimate hat-trick of awesomeness.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
it would be! OMG the thought of him running Torchwood?

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Not looking under the cut or at comments yet, but is this the thing about the show runner, or is there more to it?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
no in depth about anything.

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, thanks. And YAAY. I don't dislike RTD either, but I've loved everything Steven Moffat has done, so I look forward to this.

[identity profile] itsarift-thing.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
Stands back in amazement!!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
happy amazement? I just hope it means Steven Moffat continues to write episodes and maybe writes more.

[identity profile] itsarift-thing.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes *is definitely grinning*

[identity profile] elspethsheir.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
*waves* Came over here from [livejournal.com profile] rustydog's LJ. I'm very very pleased by this news, though we haven't seen S4 here in Canada yet. I too was wondering what it meant for Torchwood. It's not that I feel RTD did a poor job, but I have greatly enjoyed Moffat's episodes, and I think that Jekyll was one of the most consistently compelling and riveting series I've seen in ages. So I am eager and hopeful and a bit impatient for S5. (Heh, I guess I should get through S4 first, though.)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I really want to see Jekyll on of these days. Moffat won't be doing next year's DW, which consists of 4 specials (the christmas one and three bank holiday ones) but the next full season (airing 2010 in the UK). Will S4 be airing there soon? The US is about 4 episodes behinf the UK for the siring of S4 this year.

oh, btw- did you see this? http://donutsweeper.livejournal.com/81759.html

[identity profile] elspethsheir.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooo, haven't read your fic, but I will!

I thoroughly recommend Jekyll. James Nesbitt is charismatic and frightening and he should have won for it (of course, Jim Broadbent was excellent in Longford and deserved to win too, so I wish they'd tied). Well worth seeing when you can - there's an awful lot of dark humour in it, and the acting is superb.

S4 airs here in September (ack). S1 aired here before it aired in the States, and I guess we were spoiled that way. When we finally got S3, they aired the Christmas special after the first episode. In June. Of course, we still don't know if they'll air S2 of Torchwood yet. SIGH. I will console myself with fic.
