A rec

Ever read something and just think *damn* and want to hang up your word processor because you'll never do anything anywhere near as good?

Go read The Time Traveller's Husband by  [profile] leofuller.  It's depressing yet hopeful, romantic, sweet and sad.  The summary says it all "Jack’s immortal. Ianto isn’t."

It's a smashing fic, isn't it.

Of course you do realise that if you hung up your word processor, I would come and unhang it ASAP. With a vengeance. And lots of assistance.

Sometimes you do have the traitorous 'why do I even bother' thoughts going through your head; when I get them I go back and read all the positive comments I've got about my own stuff and that makes it all better again. It helps if you're a niche writer too... not that many others doing the same thing. A good reason as any for sticking to crossovers. *g* Funny thing is, that the majority of Highlander fic that is getting posted on LJ now is crossover stuff.

Oh and you get the first airing of my newest icon.

that is a great icon!

I have noticed that about Highlander fic- well, that there are a lot of TW/DW/Highlander crossovers anyway.

I'm not sure how much I am a niche writer though- I dabble in nearly all genres to one extent or another

Dabbling means you're just in lots of niches at the same time. *g*

Me, I'm firmly entrenched in mine; I have 18 fics (19 including my current wip) in the same AU posted to LJ and 6 in all others.

lol- I like that way of thinking. It's not that I'm schizophrenic and all over the place, it's just that I have multiple niches!

wow- you found something that worked for you and you could write in and you stuck with it. congrats!
