A rec

Ever read something and just think *damn* and want to hang up your word processor because you'll never do anything anywhere near as good?

Go read The Time Traveller's Husband by  [profile] leofuller.  It's depressing yet hopeful, romantic, sweet and sad.  The summary says it all "Jack’s immortal. Ianto isn’t."

I've read it and it's great! It's not angsty.

Donutsweeper if you hang up your wp where will I get my crack? I'd miss you a lot if you stopped writing!!!

It's a smashing fic, isn't it.

Of course you do realise that if you hung up your word processor, I would come and unhang it ASAP. With a vengeance. And lots of assistance.

Sometimes you do have the traitorous 'why do I even bother' thoughts going through your head; when I get them I go back and read all the positive comments I've got about my own stuff and that makes it all better again. It helps if you're a niche writer too... not that many others doing the same thing. A good reason as any for sticking to crossovers. *g* Funny thing is, that the majority of Highlander fic that is getting posted on LJ now is crossover stuff.

Oh and you get the first airing of my newest icon.

I think I've sworn to give up writing completely twice, but each time I've backed down and kept going. There are fandoms I don't write in any more because I know I'll never get into the top tier of writers there and nobody needs more second-rate fanfics.
