it also depends where you are and what's available. If the coffee's free but coke expensive (or vice versa) you might start drinking one vs the other

true. when we were in rome and our teachers had us get up at six so we could visit tons of stuff (and of course we had to party until late, so no one really got any sleep *facepalm*), I drank coffee every morning, because. caffeine! and it was free.
... I like some coffee from Starbucks, but that's so expensive *pouts a little*

Donking.. dunking donuts? something like that? I think we have one of those in Cologne by now, too. And about ten Starbucks or so. I believe one of these days, I must buy a donut and eat it in your honour. y/y?

probably Dunkin' Donuts. It's a chain in the States, but no stores near me, unfortunately.
