One of those days....

Coffee machines work better when turned on.  No really, they do.

I've heard this rumour...

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
yet it took me nearly 20 minutes to figure out why it wasn't making it's magical brew.

[identity profile] jadesfire2808.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I'd be climbing the walls for coffee before that. Although I have been known to filter the water then pour it straight into the cup rather than into the kettle...

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
At least I actually remembered to add the coffee. I've forgotten to do that before *sigh*

[identity profile] travels-in-time.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I was gonna say...my daughter generally forgets this, when we ask her to make the coffee. We get hot water instead. :D

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Really. I must try that sometime.

This is why I like Coke better. Take bottle, open bottle, drink. ... Not to mention that I just don't really like coffee *facepalm*

Facepalmity ensues! Yay!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
oopsie. Not the same thing. Not even remotely

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Learn something everyday, right?

and yes, sodas are much easier in that regard. But it's still too cold here in the mornings for anything other than tea or coffee

Yes! I shall add this to my evergrowing list of Wisdom I Learnt From Other People!

I very rarely drink anything containing caffeine in te morning, anyway. And we never have Coke unless I bug my mother. And I don't like coffee. Cold shower usually wakes me up well enough. 's cold, though.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
bwhahahaha! that's great!

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
So do crock pots, it seems. No breakfast for Rusty when I forget this important fact!

Enjoy your coffee, even if it's a little tardy. :)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
You're still young though, that might change

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
What do you make in a crockpot that's ready for breakfast?

It's good coffee, really strong and really hot. *sighs happily*

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I make a special kind of oatmeal (probably more properly called porridge) that cooks overnight. It's really yummy, but not when the oats have just been soaking in cold water for five hours. :)

Yay for good coffee!

ETA: Oh, and once I made an egg dish in the crock pot for my parents' breakfast. It had grated potatoes, eggs, cheese - I left out the sausage and substituted spinach because I'm a veggie. Pretty good, and so easy!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
oooh- that wouldn't quite work so well would it? hmmm, waking up to warm oatmeal sounds yummy actually. But I lack a crockpot.

ooh- that egg dish does sound yummy (either way for me though)

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
And it probably will, I have no illusions there :D

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
it also depends where you are and what's available. If the coffee's free but coke expensive (or vice versa) you might start drinking one vs the other

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I should have gotten one years ago, with my fondness for oatmeal and soup. but in my apartment kitchen I have space issues. Then my mom found a little teeny crockpot, just right for making about four servings, that was, gosh, around ten or twelve dollars I think.

I was thinking about posting the oatmeal recipe - maybe I'll do it today!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Once I was off on my own I've always lived in places with really small kitchens. Which stinks because I really like cooking and baking and whatnot.

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
true. when we were in rome and our teachers had us get up at six so we could visit tons of stuff (and of course we had to party until late, so no one really got any sleep *facepalm*), I drank coffee every morning, because. caffeine! and it was free.
... I like some coffee from Starbucks, but that's so expensive *pouts a little*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I love starbucks, and the other coffee shops around here

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Donking.. dunking donuts? something like that? I think we have one of those in Cologne by now, too. And about ten Starbucks or so. I believe one of these days, I must buy a donut and eat it in your honour. y/y?

[identity profile] aeron-lanart.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Makes me glad I don't drink coffee, I'm sure I'd do this too. Have some chocolate!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
probably Dunkin' Donuts. It's a chain in the States, but no stores near me, unfortunately.

I would be thrilled to have you eat a donut in my honor!
