grump grump

So I spent all week trying to finesse this drabble for [community profile] tw100's friends and enemies.  Never did get it to work right and now that challenge is over.  *sigh* I hate it when writing's like that.

So, my flist has been quiet lately.  How are all of you?

[identity profile] sistercarrion.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
I only got one drabble out of this weeks challenge, and I had such good ideas at the beginning of the week too, but mine just didn't happen either. Meh.

On the plus side, I have discovered the great joy to be had in actually joining in in Whoville. I'm ever so slightly addicted already, and I've been having a great deal of fun. Playing John Hart helps *g*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
drabble challenges are weird that way, aren't they? Some weeks I'll some up with 5 or 6 and others? Nada.

Lot of people seem to be having a blast at whoville. have fun there!

[identity profile] sistercarrion.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Whoville is so much fun. I've never RPed in my life, and I was so nervous before I took the plunge. I needn't have worried with such lovely folk being there. Anna has been such a star holding my hand this week, and her Ten and my John have hit things off great. Hee! In a week where my health hasn't been fantastic, it's been a definite 'up' point.

That's the worstest (when it comes to writing that is...)

I'm well thanks :D

How's you been???

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Passover is almost over so I shall be feeding my addiction to donuts soon. I think I'll blame my inability to get the drabble to work on lackadonutitis. Not my muse failing. What do you think? Cop out or realistic explanation?

[identity profile] lizz-112.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Definitely realistic explanation.

If i go without sugar, I cannot function - like At all! so lackadonutitis could be what makes your 'muse' funtion, and lack there of..uh...stop it from functioning (i think i can make this more confusing!)

Completely realistic explanation. *nods*

Wet, heavy snow. About ten inches as of five hours ago, and it's not stopping anytime soon. Plus, I find myself unusually distressed at the news that an ex of mine has gotten married. He's a good guy and I'm quite happy for him, really, and our relationship ended over ten years ago, so no issues there. It's the inevitable comparison with my life that's depressing me.

Um, I told myself I was going to complain less. I've got some awesome reading ahead of me this weekend - some rare comics I got from eBay and the most recent Hellblazer graphic novel and then perhaps the book of post-apocalyptic stories I picked up last Friday.

I hope you had a nice Passover.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't read Hellblazer in ages. Comics just got too expensive to buy and the libraries stopped carrying them. What other ones did you get?

10" of snow? I guess we're lucky here then, it's been snowing lightly all morning, but nothings really sticking because the ground is too warm.

and *hugs*

[identity profile] phoenix64.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually read most of Grant Morrison's The Invisibles through interlibrary loan. But yeah, I buy a lot of graphic novels - another reason I am so very much Amazon's bitch.

I don't know how familiar you are with Matt Wagner's Grendel comics, but I got the Silverback 3 issue miniseries with Argent's backstory. I'm a little weird about Grendel - I almost love the mythology more than the actual stories as they're written - but these were $10 and in beautiful condition, so I figured why not?

[identity profile] jadesfire2808.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
Argh. That's so frustrating. I know exactly how you feel, and there's not a thing you can do about it. *sends sympathy in the form of donuts*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
*happily takes cyberdonuts and munches them* :)

[identity profile] smithy161.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
*Brings you doughnuts* hope the writing goes okay!

I'm all right. Wondering why everyone is so quiet too. Maybe it's just no one wants to talk to me, but it makes me wonder if everyone's okay.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Not sure why everything's so quiet. Maybe I'm on at the wrong time or everyone's superbusy (many seem to be in a hetic point of school or life) *shrug* I hope it'll pick up again soon!

[identity profile] travels-in-time.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm busy researching rodeos for an AU which I've promised myself not to start on until the F/K/V and the Lake House fics are done. But it's so INTERESTING! *facepalm*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I've done that sort of thing (spent hours researching something I *wasn't* going to write) or spent hours researching something that'll get maybe one line when I write the piece. At least it's interesting, right?

[identity profile] travels-in-time.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if this ever gets written it'll need a LOT of background, which I'd like to be reasonably accurate, and considering I've only ever been to two rodeos, I need lots of info.

The problem is, I've got so many other things that I ought to be doing instead. Prioritizing is always a problem for me...

But what the heck. This is fandom, it's supposed to be fun, and about doing what we want, right?

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm still alive :D
I have sent you an email with your thing *G*

*smooches*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
*runs to go look* thanks! *twirls you*

It's on its way back to you again
Both attachments are the same thing - my machine is playing silly devils with .rtf again :(

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
How are all of you?

Tired. But at least I'm not drunk anymore? :D
And yourself?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
not drunk anymore is good.... :)

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
I had that this week with that challenge too :( I just *failed* so hard!

Taking Old Man out with me this morning so I can read in peace and - you know - actually enjoy, didn't get the chance at all yesterday :(

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
*grump* I hate it when challenges just won't work! 'Tis no fair!

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
But this week's reverse fandom titles are awash with good titles: The Naked Now, Menage a Trois are just the tip of the iceberg for smut and Lonely Among Us and Too Short a Season are the same for the angst list...
