Photo meme response

Since I can't figure out how to post them as photos in the comments....

[personal profile] rustydog asked for donut place.  My favorite place closed last year, but the week before it shut down the kids and I went and got one of their massive donuts.  The things were huge- the three of us couldn't finish it in one sitting.  We took a picture for posterity:

[profile] jadesfire2808 asked for fluffy.  This *very* old photo of fuzzbutt and daughter (who is almost 13 now) came to mind.  I was going to take a current photo, but he's hiding under the bed and being, in general, terribly uncooperative.

[personal profile] kensieg asked for garden, here's some tulips!

If anyone else has any requests, please feel free to go make them

1. Now that is a donut.

2. Hee--the cat looks like, "I have exactly five seconds' worth of patience left. 4...3..."

3. Pretty!

How my kids survived without having their faces clawed off by that cat is a mystery to me

A wise cat understands when he's got it made and knows that all ends if he hurts the humans' kittens. *g*

true. However, the human's kittens's shoes are fair game. *ewwww*

bloody evil so-and-so. Good thing he's so cute.

Holy cow, that donut! Did they make a lot of those? So sad that it closed down!

I LOVE the picture of fuzzbutt and baby girl! Both of their expressions are priceless. Is her arm all the way around his belly?

Pretty tulips, did you grow them?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
They sold plain glazed and the chocolate icing and also icing with sprinkles. They sold tons. But when Krispy Kreme came to town a lot of the mom and pop places had problems keeping up and went out of business. Then KK left and now there are very, very few donuts places around. That makes me very sad.

She's got one arm on the grass, pushing herself up and another bent, her elbow buried in cat fur. I want to say she was 11 months or so in this shot.

The tulips... it is more accurate to say I don't kill them. The previous owner planted huge gardens full of perennials around the house. We've been here 3 years and my brown thumb has managed to kill off most of her hard work. Somehow the tulips keep fighting valiantly against my "help"

You sound like me. My aunt gave me three nice plants for my patio for my birthday last year, and one of them has survived in spite of me. *facepalm*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
*clings* You mean I'm not the only one afflicted by brown-thumbitis? It's weird. If someone says "oh you should try growing whatnots, they're so easy and next to impossible to kill" than said whatnot do not stand even the remotest chance with me.

You are so not the only one. Now the funny thing is, my mom was that way with houseplants. She could grow anything outside, but inside? Nope.

Not the only one at all! I definitely have a black thumb when it comes to most plants, although I can grow herbs really really well. When I was a student, I had a basil plant that grew approximately to the size of a Triffid.

My grandfather was a fantastic gardener, and used to give my mother plants that he was sure "would stay nice and small". After about 3 months, they'd be enormous and covered in flowers. She used to do absolutely nothing except water them. We reckon they used to thrive on neglect :)

That is a very sad state of affairs! :( Awhile after KK came here, my local Shipley's (the one I can walk to, the ghetto donut shop) shut down for a few weeks, and I was so afraid that they'd been done in. Fortunately they opened again. I think, by some miracle, an equilibrium was eventually reached among the donut places, but it was touch and go there for awhile.

That is a nice thing about plants! Some of them are bound to be survivors, despite us.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
oooh, I've heard of Shipley's!!! They're supposed to be terrific!

I think the tulips are trying to show me up, I'll tell people I can't grow a thing and then there are those tulips looking bright red and pretty

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe they're trying to encourage you! Of course, they could be flowers with attitude. *g*

I only have a slightly better than half record with houseplants. For some reason they're difficult - outdoor plants just make more sense to me!

Shipleys' specialty donuts (especially the apple fritter omg) are miles better than Krispy Kreme's, which taste like cardboard to me. And I think their regular glazed are a lot better cold. KK is great for a warm glazed donut off the conveyer belt, but other than that I prefer others.

Wow, how big is that cat??

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
He's a Maine Coon, the largest of the house cats. At the time of the photo he was around 15 or 16 pounds.

Cool.

[identity profile] jadesfire2808.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
Bless! Perfect for the prompt :)

And that's what I call a donut...

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
You can NOT go wrong with a monster-sized donut, can you? :)

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm suddenly hungry.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
And I have to go grocery shopping. It's a disasterous combination.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
good shopping when hungry is never a good idea. You never wind up with anything nutritious, although, you wind up with plenty of tasty things!

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you end up with some interesting things.
