friends 'r' us meme

stolen from a bunch of people....

COMMENT HERE AND I WILL:
a) Tell you why I friended you.
b) Associate you with something -- a fandom, song, color, photo, etc.
c) Tell you something I like about you.
d) Tell you a memory I have of you.
e) Ask you something I've wanted to know about you
f) Tell you my favorite userpic from your list
g) In return, you need to post this on your own

As a side note, I should probably admit right off that my answer to 'why I friended you' will be the same to everyone- I never friend anyone until they've friended me.   I'm far too shy (yes, really) to randomly friend people.

a) you friended me so I friended you back
b) Jack's *true* TW backstory
c) You're such a friendly and helpful person- and a great beta
d) How you jumped in when I asked if anyone could beta my "little" SGA/TW story. (It was only 3k at the time, the additional 9K were mostly due to your influence)
e) Did you do a lot of writing before getting involved in fanfic?
f) I'm torn between the *iz ded* kitty because he's so dang cute, and the singing in the rain ones because it's so cheery and you use them so often

[identity profile] jadesfire2808.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm an only child, so I'd always put myself in my favourite stories, which explains my Mary-Sue X-men fic that lurks in my fanfiction.net account. I wrote a little bit there, then joined a writing site before I found LJ. But I had a really bad experience with a mod there - nothing personally horrible, but just...not helpful on the writing-front, and kind of felt like someone had knocked the stuffing out of me. Fandom's a whole lot more supportive, as well as fun! I keep dabbling with the idea of going back to original writing, but I really did take a confidence knock and keep chickening out.

Woah. That's...probably more answer than you needed, sorry! *sheepish*

*chooses happy icon to make up for it*

hmm I'm prety sure that isn't true for you and me...

Me please?

[identity profile] itsarift-thing.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Either version of me - I'm not fussy!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I probably did friend [livejournal.com profile] itsarift_thing, but I think of fic LJs as extensions of the person.. so you did friend me first...
b) You're 100% responsible for the "whistling" verse- so that
c) You're utterly evil with the way you get me thinking about story ideas
d) Seven's bear commentfic!!! God that was fun
e) Have you always lived in the UK? In just one place there, or many?
f) I most associate you with the it's a rift thing and walking doodle ones, but I love your 'magnificent' Master one

you friended me- I didn't realize I hadn't friended you back for awhile until you mentioned it (I'm kind of bad at friending back)
b) NCIS and TONY!love
c) You're all bouncy and supportive!
d) Some of the massive commentfests we've gotten into, especially about Tony
e) Do you ever have problems posting and reading in English?
f) I love the plot bunny ones you have

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I did indeed! Though I cannot remember why exactly I friended you, just that it resulted from a long babble.
b) YAY!
c) I'm only supportive when people deserve my support!
d) Haha, yeeeeeeeees! *beams* I like those!
e) No. English comes more easily to me than German does, nowadays, and I find I can express myself better in English than in German. And there's always urbandictionary and the thesaurus on my computer for when I don't understand what the hell people are talking about. Or asking. No one's bitten my head off for asking, yet :D

The funny thing is, I don't either, and I honestly can't remember how we friended each other. I figure it must have had something to do with some commentfest or another, probably in Terry's journal. (This isn't a meme comment, by the way, just puzzling!)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It was nearly a year ago, so not remembering is okay, I'm just glad you did!

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if I friended you first, you're in an elite group numbering... probably one, maybe two! But I'm glad too.

a) again- you friended me, but I immediately friended you back
b) You're the TW fandom to me- warm and open and all nice to be around
c) You're an absolutely amazing beta
d) you helping me through that Jack/Ianto "caring for the Captain" alien drugging piece. It would have been muck without you
e) what exactly do you do at your job?
f) the Jack "Utopia" one where he's in his tshirt.

Awww. *blushes*

d) That one was actually really interesting to do, especially as I have very little experience in Jack/Ianto, and even less then!

e) I type. I am part of a typing pool. The lawyers dictate into a computer system and it comes through to us on a sort of spreadsheet and we just click on the job in the queue and type it. It's satisfying, not normally too stressful, very easy to do part-time because there's no handover, and I can leave it at work when I come home. :-)

I also, of course, get to use my language skills on making sure everything is spelled and punctuated correctly, and typing what's correct grammatically even when what they've dictated isn't. *g*

e) what fandoms do you dabble in?

Um... anything I've seen or read? Ok, not quite that many... and I'm only counting fic. Otherwise, I'll be here all night.

-Heralds of Valdemar (one unfinished story)
-The Mummy movies (one story that might get finished, three or four that ended up running away from fandom fast enough to give me whiplash)
-Underworld (two unfinished stories, both AU)
-Highlander (mostly play with Methos and/or Amanda, with bit parts and cameos from others)
-Pirates of the Caribbean (two stories, both short, some poetry)
-X-Men (one series nominally finished - 6 stories - and a couple of AU stories that haven't gone anywhere... er, and one really bad fic from years and years ago)
-Lord of the Rings (really, nothing finished that's worth reading, even if I have posted it...)
-House (one AU with more than one story, an AU one-shot, and a challenge fic - and I'm not really writing more)
-Stargate (SG1 or Atlantis, I think I have one finished story worth admitting to, and some bad fic that I won't let see the light of the internet)

Plus anything new that comes along and I like and can pick up the characters well enough to write them.

a) again, I just returned the favor after you'd friended me
b) You're one of the few people I know who can write crossovers!
c) I'm always amazed when you read stuff even if you aren't that familiar with the fandom *hugs*
d) you giving me the Janet/Dief conversation meme prompt. I was all 0_o WHA? but it worked!
e) did you always want to be a nurse? do you like it?
f)hmmm, userpic- I associate you with methos, but my favorite pic of yours is probably one of your Ace ones

[identity profile] aeron-lanart.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Always happy to give you weird and wonderful prompts. *g*

I love crossovers so I'll always give them a read even if I'm not terribly familiar with one or more of the fandoms; that in turn can lead to me wanting to read more in a non-familiar fandom as I start to get a feel for the characters, and also getting familiar with the parent material. It happened with Dresden Files, Firefly (bought the DVDs for both series), SGA (now have all the eps to watch) and it's in the process of happening for NCIS. I am a TV addict who doesn't actually watch much TV!

As for being a nurse I've wanted to be one since I was about 5 or 6. Prior to that I wanted to be a vet, until I found out that vets had to put down dogs. Nursing is a job that gives you the full gamut of emotions, often all in the same week; it's both uplifting and soul destroying and I don't think I could do anything else. I love the job, I just don't like the politics that often goes with it. I'm never going to be a great mover and shaker, but I. I don't always get on so well with relatives however...
