Recs, Yuletide, and More
Oct. 20th, 2023 09:16 amThere's a little over a day left to sign up for Yuletide (countdown to 9pm UTC tomorrow, admin post here). As of posting this, it just crossed 900 signups! Considering the huge bump that happens in the last day or so I won't be surprised if there's 1200+ in total again. I love Yuletide.
I finally finished my letter, eventually deciding to lean into the 'absolutely rarest of rare' kind of fandoms for my signup and only requested All Souls, Nightmare Cafe and The Vampires. I can always ask for Time Raiders or that Hu Ge airline ad another year. I'm still keeping an eye on the signup summary page for offer tweaking.
Crafting-wise, a few weeks ago I finished the second jumbo cake of yarn for my dragon scale afghan but due to its nature (it uses SO much yarn) even with 2362 yards of yarn and it's only 40x43ish:

and I made an oven mitt (that actually works! You don't feel the heat even when pulling a cookie sheet out of a 425 oven) that uses a new-to-me technique (thermal stitch done in the round with two colors going in opposite directions):

recthething recs (2 MDZS/Untamed fics). I haven't been finding as much to rec lately, I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep up the reccing every week thing, but I've been doing it about two years now so I guess that's not so bad.

(canon-era AU where lots of things change as a result of WWX's unquestionable lineage and ridiculous beauty)
