Jack? Please shut up. You're supposed to be in a tale of intrigue and aliens, not having tea with a giggling four year old. Remember the mystery? The reason this whole stupid story is being written in the first place? Do you think you can address that part sometime this century?
Plot=hard. Tea and crumpets=fun. *sigh*

I am of the firm belief that plotting is something that happens subconsciously as much as anything else, and it's not until I start writing or talking (pity
Besides. Crumpets are yummy.

But I'm just letting them ramble, I figure I can always trim out the scenes that don't work later. I'm pretty good at going at my stories with hacksaws and hand grenades without mercy.
I do have the scenario in mind, a vague sense of A, B, C etc- just no clear idea of how to get from A to B to C. I let my characters guide me, if that makes sense

Oh, crumpets are these wonderful little things. They're sort of like english muffins, they're all nook and cranny-y and they have a smooth bottom. You toast them and put butter on them or, my favourite, lemon curd or whatever (peanut butter is really good too). They're crispy and chewy and yummy. *nods* We eat them for breakfast at my house, but I'm sure they're good with tea too.

those sound GOOD though!

Sorry. And Peanut butter on one is just wrong ♥

I am a Canadian, so crumpets aren't exactly a national food around here. I blame that for any torturing of crumpets through unnatural toppings that may occur at my hand. I call being the poutine expert, however. ;-P

I googled poutine and that looks kind of strange - cheese curds and gravy? Is it tasty?
OMG I then googled English Muffins and jeepers what some of those places say is a muffin is not something I recognise. Maybe foodstuffs need latin names like flowers so there can be no confusion?? A teatime muffin is something akin to a bagel but with no hole in the middle and not of such hard consistency. To toast a shop bought muffin toast it top and bottom THEN split it in half and then apply butter and spread to the untoasted side.

And if you google wrong, you will get rather unexpected results, involving women and not a lot of clothes. And no, I don't know how the association came about...
What you've described is pretty much how I work. I never know what's going to happen, how it's going to end or how they're going to get there. Fortunately, the characters usually do :)

I'm glad to hear that other people write this way. With luck Jack does know what he's doing. I guess I'll just have to trust him

You know, I should be answering emails, not traipsing around the web in search of bakery items.
This is so much more fun :)

Actually, I have to admit, I haven't had them since I was a child. But they were revolting back then.
