things and stuff
Dec. 12th, 2021 11:31 amI have been slacking off on crossposting things here. So here's a makeup post

c_ent (a comm about Chinese entertainment/fandoms) there's a weekly chat post where we mention what (if) we've seen/read/etc and I posted about the following short wlw films:
The Fox Spirit and the Little Priest - only 3 minutes and very much had a college film project feel to it but still interesting enough
The Story of the Demon Cult Leader and the Decent Miss 14 minutes, a good little film, really liked both leads in this and it teased at a very interesting cultivation world set up.
The Female Doctor and Rabbit Spirit (which stars one of the leads from the Demon Cult film)- the four minute prequel of sorts and the nine minute main story.
The latter three all had beautiful cinematography and and a lovely earnestness about them. Well worth the short time spent to watch them. I have a few others on my to-watch list when I get more time so hopefully I'll have more to rec at a later date.
and have *sigh* two weeks ofrecthething recs (7 AO3 fics and one tumblr vid, all MDZS/Untamed):
I'm still plugging away at Yuletide treats and still working on the use-up-yarn blanket/throw thing although I need to think about switching to making some animals for niece's birthday at some point....

(fascinating modern cultivation AU plus great JYL/WQ)

Summary Snippet: Lan Wangji never wanted to have his betrothal thrown open to chance, but the Gusu Lan sect brings back the old custom of the Four Lords Tournament to the youth of the cultivation world, and it’s his hand on the line. (modern but not really, cultivation AU, great read)

Summary: Someone is poisoning the city's vampires, and Wen Qing's preternatural speakeasy, Nightless City, is the only safe place for a meal (1920's Urban Fantasy NYC set AU, absolutely fascinating worldbuilding with great found family)

Summary: Lan Wangji becomes immortal, but somewhere along the way he forgets Wei Ying. Alone for thousands of years, Lan Wangji is living a perfectly fine existence (or so he convinces himself), until he bumps into someone who reminds him how much more there is to life than simply just existing. (fascinating premise and overall good fic)

Summary: Wei Ying rents a run-down cottage in a small town by the sea, looking for a quiet place to hide after the war. Lan Zhan has always dreamed of the ocean. He returns to the town where he was born, and where his parents died, to find out why. Instead, they find each other. (incredible modern-with-magic-plus-more AU with embedded soundtrack)
