Randomness
Feb. 17th, 2023 08:40 pmCandy Hearts Exchange is open, 478 fandoms and 913 works. Lots of bite sized (and big huge) things to peruse! It's still in the anon phase until the 21st.
The Hurt/Comfort Exchange's tagset is currently open for nominations and there's lots of good stuff there already. At some point I need to sit down and get my act together and nom some things. There's still a few days (it'll be open until the 24th sometime).
Have three weeks of
recthething recs- lots of fandoms this time with art from
candyheartsex and tumblr and some MDZS/Untamed fics:
One Can Keep A Secret (If He Does Not Know It's There) by H_Belle.(5.5k)
Summary: At fifteen, during summer camp in Cloud Recesses, Wei Wuxian invents a bunch of talismans when bored or prompted by Nie Husaisang. Thinking it awfully funny, he creates a throwaway account at a professional cultivation research/purchase network and uploads them for sale for a modest fee. Then, he forgets about the whole thing. Years later, the mysterious Yiling Patriarch is known in all Jianghu as an elusive genius cultivator who revolutionised his field. Those two statements might or might not be related. (hilarious modern-with-cultivation AU)
Su She Eats his Heart Out by KizuKatana (17k)
Summary Snippet: The (bitter) third party pov of the epic college romance between Wei Ying and Lan Zhan, as told from the pettiest NPC to ever exist. (Hilarious, perfectly IC Su She POV for a MDZS University AU)
Blinded me with science by Beltenebra (2k)
Summary Snippet: Wen Qing reflects on her life as the Real power behind Wen Corp. (cute and fun For Science!!/Modern-with-Cultivation AU with a delightfully snarky Wen Qing POV)
[Fanvid] Comfort by atamascolily
Summary: My life is open wide / the more you live, the less you will die. No matter how far Wei Wuxian goes, Lan Wangji will always be there for him. (lovely WWX, LWJ (and Little Apple!) vid)
Tumblr art:
Addams Family: - INKTOBER 2020: #30 - Ominous (The whole family, being as Addamsy as expected and hoped for)
Homeward Bound: - Disney's Homeward Bound was released 30 years ago today! I wanted to draw a commemorative poster for it's 30th birthday. (Dogs and a cat! How can you go wrong with that?)
MDZS: - Nie Huaisang (perfect scheming headshaker)
SPN: - “all-purpose Supernatural fanart” (hilarious and adorable)
Star Trek: - Cat Sulu sketch Meowterprise series
- The Ballad of Bones Meowterprise series
- The Animated Series redraw Meowterprise series
- Cat-Uhura Meowterprise series
(the entire Meowterprise series is wonderful, check out its whole tag)
and not quite fandom, but the artist who brought us Our Blessed Rebel Queen: Carrie Fisher and Our Lady of Grateful Camaraderie: Betty White has now presented the tribute Our Lady of New Frontiers, Nichelle Nichols as well.
and from
candyheartsex:
The Addams Family (Movies - Sonnenfeld):
Playing House - Wednesday may never want to get married, but is Joel ready for the Addams life? (perfect for the movies, great style for these two pieces)
Discworld - Terry Pratchett:
Dead rat do not eat - If you'll please, Mustrum, the rat is busier than you are. (best use of Death of Rats ever!)
DCU (comics):
Fanart - Shadow and Light - For El_Wayne, who requested Clark Kent & Bruce Wayne friendship. (really lovely use of shadows in this one)
Katmai Bearcams (explore.org):
Grumpy Old Men - Perennial Katmai rivals, 747 & 856. Just a couple of fishing "buddies". :v (absolutely adorable art of two of the bears from Fat Bear Week)
Death from Above - Watch out Alice, not even the skies are safe anymore! (hilariously adorable bear v seagull art)
Original Work:
[Art] Solace, Shelter, Hope, and Love - A witch in her candy world. (so colorful!)
Lucky To Have You - She keeps getting hurt, which means she keeps going back to her favorite healer. (lovely and tender art for the pairing 'Brave but Unlucky Female Adventurer/Female Healer Who Patches Her Up')
Huge blanket is getting huger (that really doesn't look like a word, but whatever) as I've been crocheting a lot while watching a recently aired Cdrama called The Blood of Youth (少年歌行, which translates as something like the song of youth I think so actually kind of close) which I'm really liking so far. If it holds up to the end I might do a write up for it for
c_ent. We'll see.
I listen/watch to a lot of history/language type podcasts and youtubers while doing chores and crafts and in the last month wound up coming across three that discussed subjects I knew enough about to know the information they gave was either incorrect or slanted which is really frustrating and now I have to wonder how much other stuff presented was wrong/biased/not the whole story. Grumble grumble SIGH. Oh well.
At point soonish I need to completely revamp my resource lists and not only check all the links (I'm sure a few are probably dead) but also add in new stuff (including more than a dozen writing and info about nsfw links) and maybe break up one or both of the really big posts (the random links one and the time-frame specific historical one)? It's going to be a huge project so I keep putting it off and putting it off and putting it off....
I sort of accidentally made a stupid number of cookies the other day

the stupid number being 10 dozen. Because I forgot how many the recipe made and then figured if I was going through all the work for making them I should just double it so I'd have some to freeze. I had so many to freeze. So, so many.
