The only thing that heralded his arrival was the slightest shift of air. “Hello, Jack.”
“Clark,” Jack responded, unsurprised by the sudden company. “It’s been a long time.”
“That it has,” Clark said agreeably. “You’re looking well.”
“Thanks. A little grayer though. And sporting a few more wrinkles.” Jack looked over and caught Clark’s smile. “Wait a second, were you flirting with me?”
Clark shrugged. “It’s never too late to try something new.”
“No, I suppose not.”
Reaching out, Clark put a hand on the window. “It will be strange, to see it go.”
“Yep. I wasn’t born there, but it was my home, for a while.”
“Mine as well.” He stepped closer, so their shoulders were touching. “Are you sure you don’t want to go inside and join the party?”
“No, I thought I’d watch from out here.” Jack shrugged. “Just feels right for some reason.”
Clark tilted his head, considering what Jack said. “Mind if we watch together?”
“Not at all.” Jack smiled, “I’d like that.”
“Me too.”
A tinny computer voice boomed throughout the space station, “Earth Death in 30 minutes.”
After a few minutes of silence Jack said, “Time to sit back and enjoy the show.”
